About Us

Clothes are made to accompany us through life, rather than just for a fleeting split-second – contrary to what today’s cultures of fast fashion and consumerism would have us believe. The garments that stay with us – those that truly endure - are made of high-quality fabrics that wrap themselves around you, participate in your experiences and become your future heirlooms. They move with you, celebrate you and give you space, acting as comfort blanket and talisman. They give you confidence and comfort, and you can wear them time and time again without them disintegrating into holes and frayed threads. You can trust them to shelter you when you need, and to let you dance when the time is right (and then again, it’s almost always the right time to dance).

Born of these principles, JAUNT is a fashion and art project by Ketevani Gorgiladze. Bringing together the art of the seamstress and a desire to create change in the clothing industry, the project features unique pieces that are simple. A mature colour palette meets with aspects of playfulness, in garments that reflect the layered richness of the human soul.

Ketevani invites us to reconnect, with women’s and unisex pieces that are inspired by the human spirit and created with respect for nature. Fabrics are organic and predominantly linen and cotton, or dead stock materials.

The style sees classical outlines meet with a fusion of different cultural elements, from Asian influences to  ornaments, colours and fabrics typical to her native Georgia. Kimono themes inform Ketevani’s work, with silhouettes that enable ease of movement, a flow of expression. The designs also nod to Georgia’s heritage as a country that previously sat on the Silk Road, bringing together patterns from the Oriental and Western worlds (and beyond).

The project originated in then-communist Georgia, as Nino(mother) created clothes for the young Ketevani to wear out of necessity. This expanded into a career as a seamstress in the Georgian theatre, where the daughter spent her nursery years watching on and absorbing all that she encountered. Now grown, Ketevani joins forces with Ninos’ Atelier, bringing her own force of creative curiosity to combine with Nino’s experience. As it often is, the context of austerity brought out a series of truths: the clothes that Nino made for Keti in the poverty of extreme socialism were of fine quality, thanks to the time, care, skill and attention to detail that she gave the pieces, as well as the bespoke manner of creation where each item was created specifically for Ketevani’s body. A true sense of relationship exists between her and these clothes to this day, and this idea of a personal narrative being imbued within garments is something deeply woven in the JAUNT project.

Clothes with a self-assured beauty, that feel as if they have been tailored to the life of the person who wears them: Ketevani creates go-to items for the person with discerning taste. Small surprises await you in the detail, where inner lining, seams, pockets and labels express a bold sense of personality, which blends seamlessly with the elegant tone of the pieces. As with a person’s soul, the closer that you come and truly feel the shape of who (or what) they are, the more colour and beauty reveals itself to you.
